There’s a solid puzzler at the core of Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss, if you aren’t driven to despair by some technical hiccups, some frustrating mechanics and an auto-save system with a mind of its own.

With its complete dedication to replicating the mechanics, drive, and satisfaction of climbing, The Game Bakers have cooked up a tough but hugely rewarding adventure game that means I can easily look past its few annoyances.

Offering a mysterious and gorgeous world to explore, smooth and creative platforming challenges, and competent if rudimentary combat, MIO: Memories in Orbit is a stellar Metroidvania that fans of the genre need to play.

Its atrocious combat system and uneven atmosphere almost bring it down, but Silent Hill f is an audacious, thematically rich and spellbinding survival horror like little else out there.

Cronos: The New Dawn is a solid and well-made survival horror game, but in its reverence for the classics, it doesn't distinguish itself from games that are decades old.
