Apple today announced that "After the Whistle with Brendan Hunt and Rebecca Lowe" will return on June 7 for a third season built around the 2026 FIFA World Cup.


Hunt is an actor and cocreator of Apple TV's Ted Lasso. Lowe hosts NBC Sports' Premier League coverage and is cohosting FOX Sports' FIFA World Cup 2026 broadcast. The two will recap games as the tournament unfolds, with new episodes landing multiple times a week in the hours after notable matches.

The show is produced by Apple News and presented by Verizon, and will be available in audio and video on ‌Apple News‌, Apple Podcasts, and other podcast platforms. The first episode arrives on June 7 with tournament previews.

Alongside the podcast, the ‌Apple News‌ app will feature tournament coverage from outside publishers, the schedule, scores, brackets, and player feeds. The free Apple Sports app, which Apple expanded to 90 more countries earlier this month, will offer live scores, stats, and a bracket view for the tournament.

Apple today announced that its Apple Sports app is now available in more than 90 additional countries, including Australia, New Zealand, Japan, India, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, the Philippines, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, South Africa, and many others across the Asia-Pacific, Middle East, and Africa.


The app was already released in North America, South America, and Europe. In total, it is now available in 170 countries and regions around the world.

Apple also said the app offers these 2026 FIFA World Cup features:

• Tournament bracket view: The clean, scrollable view of matchups and results for each round allows fans to easily track a team's progression from the group stage through their final match.
  
• Visual formations: Enhanced game cards feature visual formations for each team's starting lineup to provide deeper tactical insight ahead of each match.
  
• One tap to Apple News: Apple News connects fans directly to comprehensive editorial coverage, including the latest headlines.

Apple Sports supports the Live Activities feature, allowing users to follow their favorite World Cup teams and keep track of scores for each match at a glance on the iPhone's Lock Screen or Dynamic Island, and on the Apple Watch.

"The World Cup unites fans across the globe, making it the ideal moment to bring Apple Sports to even more users," said Oliver Schusser, Apple's vice president of Music, Sports, Apple TV, and Beats. Apple today updated its Sports app with weather conditions for F1 Grand Prix races and smaller widget options for both the iPhone's Home Screen and CarPlay.


The widget lets you view scores for your favorite leagues and teams at a glance.

CarPlay gained support for widgets on iOS 26. To view them, swipe right on CarPlay's interface until you reach the Dashboard screen, shown below.


In addition, Apple encourages people to get ready for the 2026 FIFA World Cup by following their favorite teams and exploring the groups of countries in the Apple Sports app before the tournament kicks off on Thursday, June 11.

Apple today updated the Sports app for iPhone to add more 2026 FIFA World Cup content. Soccer fans are now able to view complete tournament groupings and follow their favorite national teams in the app. This is the first 48-team World Cup and a departure from the traditional 32-team format.


Following teams allows Apple Sports users to get real-time score updates and stats, plus there is support for Live Activities for tracking games. Apple says that it's easier than ever for fans to stay up to date on the tournament action when it begins on June 11.

The Apple Sports app lets users follow their favorite teams, tournaments, and leagues, with tools for navigating between scores and upcoming games, viewing play-by-play and lineup details, and tapping into the Apple TV app to watch live events.

Apple Sports includes support for more than 30 of the top soccer leagues and tournaments across North America, Latin America, and Europe.

Following today's update, Apple plans to add support for six new soccer leagues to the next version of the Sports app, MacRumors has discovered.


Earlier today, Apple released version 3.7 of the Sports app, introducing support for every PGA and LPGA tournament, with live leaderboards, round-by-round scorecards for every golfer, and real-time updates in the app, widgets, and Live Activities. The app already supported the NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL, Premier League, NASCAR, F1, and more. The update also expanded the soccer lineup with support for Copa del Rey, Coppa Italia, Coupe de France, and DFB-Pokal. In addition, tennis coverage now supports real-time stats, making it easier to keep up with the action.

Backend code spotted by MacRumors reveals what's next for Apple Sports in version 3.8. Apple is planning to add support for six South American soccer leagues, including Brazil Serie A, Argentina Primera A, Colombia Primera Liga, Ecuador Serie A, Peru Primera Division, and Chile Primera Division.
